The Higher Education department of Odisha government made its stand clear on the issue while replying to a petition filed by Rashmi Ranjan Acharya, who had sought a ban on teacher education degrees from Andhra University and Acharya Nagarjuna University.

 

Besides, candidates coming with certificates of any universities, including Andhra University or Acharya Nagarjuna University, are required to appear and qualify in Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) to teach at the elementary level and Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OSSTET) to teach at the secondary level, said Higher Education department Additional Secretary Ramakanta Nayak while replying to Acharya’s petition.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Two Year B.Ed:

 

Pass in +3 Degree Examination in Science / Arts with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.

Science Stream:

 

Candidates applying for B.Ed. Science stream should have studied the subjects in any one of the following combinations at the +3 level

Phy. Sc. & Mathematics (PM)

 

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Phy.Sc. & Bio. Sc. (PB)

 

Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

Arts Stream:

 

Candidates applying for B.Ed. Arts stream should have studied at least one school subject each from a & b with one of them as an elective at +3 Arts ,

English, Hindi, Oriya and Bengali

History, Geography, Political Science and Economics
